Haab Month: Tzec/Sek

The Bee Keeper Festival is observed in the month of Sek. Offerings were made to images of the four Chaaks (rain gods), and the rims of offering plates were covered in honey. Hive owners shared honey with the community. (mayan-calendar.com)

Tzec/Sek led me on a rabbit trail that even had a rabbit. Ah Muzen Caab/Ah Muu Zen Caab is the God of Bees and Honey. Known as the “diving god” or “descending god,” it is always depicted upside down. The Temple of the Bees at Tulum is associated with Venus, and a symbol of LAMAT and the totem Rabbit.
